This book contains three stories: Tea House, My Life, and Old Tragedy in the New Era. Teahouse takes the rise and fall of a big teahouse called Yutai in old Beijing as the background, and shows the changes in Beijing's social style and the lives of different people from all walks of life during the nearly 50 years from the late Qing Dynasty to the period of Beiyang warlords to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. My Life is based on the autobiography of an ordinary patrol policeman in Peiping, telling about his rough and tragic life. In Old Tragedy in the New Era, it is described that Mr. Chen's big family fell apart under the impact of the complex contradictions of the New Era, and he himself went crazy in despair.
