When Matthew and Thomas first came into the world, he welcomed the newborns with joy, as any father would. But fate was as cruel as he was happy - his two angelic boys were diagnosed with disorders, such as a severe stoop that they had to be braced, and a lack of intelligence that prevented them from ever learning or growing up... "Everyone worries about things like earthquakes or the end of the world, things that happen once and are enough to destroy everything, but it happened to me! But I had two apocalypses." Many, many years later, he writes about the mixed feelings he's had along the way. Sometimes he finds the benefits of a disabled child in a positive way, sometimes he fantasizes about father-son interactions, sometimes he is devastated by the words of others, sometimes he is full of ridiculous ideas and even jokes about his son, but in fact he is only proving that he is still capable of laughing off his misfortunes....
